I think that the idea of becoming a big time movie star has all but been drowned out by the crap out there that people happen to become famous with! There are thousands of ways of becoming a big-shot: Web comics, video diaries, home movies, games, or almost anything else that comes in a video/artwork/audio format. I understand people becoming “known” or “familiar” on the internet, but then someone makes a million dollars off a web comic and it just goes downhill from there.
The internet is like space. There are planets (msn.com, gamespy.com, etc), stars (Microsoft.com, Ebay), and things (weather.com, filehippo.com). Then after years and years of progression, space shuttles spewing gratituous ammounts of bullshit and putrid radioactive waste out all orafices in all directions onto “said” planets and stars in the form of lolcats (a.k.a youtube, explosm.com, etc.) explode out of no-where to let us know that mankind like to watch that video of a monkey sniffing it’s finger after being up its butt. I mean, yeah youtube is all good and dandy for sharing information (much like a space ship is useful for flying in space) however when you dump 400 gallons of shit into the fuel tank and exhaust horrible clouds of “who-knows-what” things start malfunctioning and progress comes to a standstill.
The readings were nice, short, simple, and educational. However you want to look at it, it’s about social networking and sharing information. The trick, is to put the “right” information out there. I don’t need “Trash cat is unpleased!” or “I can has Chezbrgr!” e-mailed to me in the bulk nonstop for the rest of the existence of my e-mail accounts.
